Most Americans (60%) \u2014 including majorities of white mainline Protestants (56%), black Protestants (84%), white Catholics (60%) and seculars (72%) \u2014 say they are happy the Democrats won control of Congress in the November midterm election; only among white evangelicals did as many express unhappiness as expressed happiness with the Democrats\u2019 victory (41% each).
